Understanding Insurance CoverageMember coverage for health plans contracted with Fulcrum include a Certificate of Coverage (COC) that supports chiropractic care for active treatment of acute neuromusculoskeletal disorders. The acute presentation of a chronic condition may support a few visits to restore previously achieved therapeutic gains only if the documentation clearly states the reason for the recent acute relapse, that further regression is suspected if treatment was not provided, and encourages patient self-management educations such as exercise and home care instructions.
ACA Partners with Choosing Wisely CampaignThe American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has partnered with the ABIM Foundation and Consumer Reports on the Choosing Wisely Campaign and has released a list of “Five Things Clinicians and Patients Should Question”. This list includes tests and procedures commonly ordered in chiropractic care but not always necessary.
Infection Preventions Tips for Toys in Waiting RoomIt’s common for healthcare clinics to have books and other toys available in the waiting room to entertain children who come in. However, along with the books and toys comes infection prevention concerns.
- Only have toys available that can be easily cleaned and disinfected – no stuffed animals
- Consider newer wall mounted games with Plexiglas-like covers that are easy to clean
- Establish a policy for cleaning and disinfecting toys at regular intervals
